The production area of the Cocciaio was characterized by a series of parallel roads interconnected by pedestrian passages that allowed people to move quickly between one road and another. The still existing one is the Kissing alley, very close and unlit at night. The alley derives its name from being, in the past, frequented by locals to exchange affective effusions without being seen.
This transversal passage was linked: on one side, to the square overlooking the loggia and the stairs to the house of "Bazzino", a character known in the country for its rather brazen character; on the other, to a passage that, through the gardens and the underpass still existing, of the former monastery of the monks of San Galgano, went directly to the top of what today is via Amos Cassioli.
