Asciano - Nel 1844 a Rochdale, centro industriale tessile vicino Manchester
Andrè Gide scriveva: «È dalla porta stretta dell’utopia che si entra nella realtà costruttiva». Questa affermazione diventava nel corso della storia l’emblema sempre cercato e attualizzato del movimento cooperativo il quale secondo gli storici nasceva con la prima cooperativa costituita a Rochdale nel 1844.
Certamente le radici profonde della solidarietà umana, dell’idea che era possibile risolvere i problemi naturali, meteorologici o sociali aiutandosi l’un l’altro fraternamente non sono certamente databili, poiché hanno sempre accompagnato l’uomo nel corso della sua storia.
