I recenti e approfonditi studi sulla nostra Basilica e sul suo strano Campanile, hanno portato a svelare tanti segreti che esso nascondeva, ma l'avanzatissimo studio dell'Università di Firenze, supportato da strumentazioni moderne, ci regala un suo spaccato mai visto e difficile da immaginare.
Infatti, dopo aver realizzato, nei minimi dettagli, un modello tridimensionale digitale dell'intero complesso religioso, è ora possibile visualizzare qualsiasi spaccato della struttura, allo stesso modo in cui si fa con la TAC di un corpo umano.
Il risultato sono le sorprendenti immagini della chiesa e del campanile come quella qui rappresentata, fondamentali per studi futuri ed eventuali restauri.
