Brief Chronology
1342 – 1352 probable construction as it belongs to the third circle of walls built in these years
1555 the tower was cut down by order of Cosimo I
post 1913 reduction of the mass, opening of two front windows and construction of the dovecote on the upper one.

Architectural Description
Located near Porta Massini, today rectangular in plan, very small in size and with slender proportions, it is accessed from a door on the internal front. It has a slit on the west side elevation, while an opening on the adjacent section of walls leads to a small basement room under the tower.
The wall texture is the classic row with stone corners and scattered traces of plaster. The roof is flat.
Before the downsizing, the tower had a square plan and was accessed, via a covered walkway, directly from Via Bartolenga. This allowed the tower and the southern stretch of walls to be reached without passing through the direct appurtenances of Palazzo Tolomei.
Current Status
The tower is privately owned and used as an annex to a nearby home.
