STRUCTURE DESCRIPTION

The farmhouse “Casabianca” is situated on the hill-crest which separates Valle di Chiana, sang in such a lively way by Dante, from Crete Senesi, wonderfully represented by Ambrogio Lorenzetti in Palazzo Comunale in Siena. It is situated in the middle of a territory, rich in historical traces and various landscapes. From the residential group of buildings, the sight can range widely on all sides over the hills of Montalcino and Mount Cetona, over the Crete, Mount Amiata and towards Siena. The resort is also reported by Repetti in his dictionary of the beginning of the nineteenth century and it is attested by Pieri in his “ Southern Tuscany’ s Toponymy”. In the past, the inhabitants of this place belonged to the small commune of Montecalvoli, which was part of the Commune of Asciano and then embodied in it. With the passing of time, a large Commune, endowed with a chapel, shops and even an elementary school, associated with it. “Casabianca” is situated few kilometres by car from suggestive resorts which form a ring around it: Asciano, with its beautiful monuments and museums; Rapolano, with its ancient travertine quarries; Castelmuzio with the nearby splendid Romanesque Parish of Saint Stephan; the Monastery of Saint Anne in Camprena with Sodoma’s frescos and, not far away, the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino and other thousand places. The accurate restructuration of the village has taken again “Casabianca” to its ancient splendour with its characteristics rural buildings, the elegant owner’s country house, the paths and the gardens, as well as the agricultural activity itself, of the cultivation of olive trees “Oil D.O.P. Terre di Siena”, original resource of the ancient farm and present source of an excellent extra-virgin olive oil: precious flavour of Tuscan countries. From the articulated structure it has been also possible to obtain rooms for meetings, conferences, banquets or simply for quiet relaxing moments, dedicated to pleasant readings. Also the external surroundings offer a possibility of recreation like the swimming pool or the hydro-massage bath, or like the bar, where you can taste some snacks in front of a lovely view. The woods themselves, at last, create excellent occasions to go for a walk or to ride a horse.
